What do 9 year old Zoey, 1 year old Amiracle, 17 year old Connery and 6 year old Emily have in common?  These children are all part of FBC’s 2020 Angel Tree list received from the Clarke County DFCS.  There are over 300 children in foster care with Clarke and Oconee County DFCS.

The Missions Committee has adopted the Clarke County Department of Family and Children Services “Angel Tree” Project as a 2020 church-wide community missions project.  FBC Athens has committed to “adopt” 27 children.  This project provides an opportunity for church members to “adopt” a foster child and help make their Christmas special. This year due to COVID, “adopting” is being handled via sign-up genius and you can follow this link to select a child to support. All items should be returned to the Angel Tree Collection Center in the Farral Conference Room at FBC no later than Wednesday, December 2 by 4:30 p.m.  For further information, contact Carol Rayburn Cofer.  If you are unable to shop for a child, donations will be accepted and members of the Virginia Appleton Circle will do the shopping for you! Submit a check to the church office with “Angel Tree” in the memo line.

Please consider “adopting” one of these children and help them have a brighter Christmas.
