The 40th day after Easter is Ascension, a day often overlooked as it occurs on a Thursday. It marks the day on which Jesus went to the Mount of Olives with his disciples and ascended to heaven before their eyes (Acts 1:1-12).
Our congregation will celebrate Ascension at 12 noon on Thursday, May 29, at Black Rock Mountain State Park, just north of Clayton. The service will last about 30 minutes. This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, church groups, and others to plan a day in the mountains. Perhaps your Sunday school class or another group in the church would like to travel together. Clayton has a variety of restaurants for lunch following the service, or you might bring a picnic.
This is a one-time only event. We plan to do this in 2025 but not in following years.
