Sunday Evenings
Children’s Choir
First Baptist Church provides a graded choir program for children on Sunday evenings for ages three through sixth grade. Our experienced and gifted choir teachers, helpers, and accompanists utilize the Celebrating Grace curriculum for children’s choirs, a dynamic and effective material. In children’s choir, our children learn how to express their love for God through singing, listening, moving, and playing instruments. The children’s choirs meet from 4:30 – 5:15 pm. from August through May.
Brownie Bear Preschool Choir: ages 3, 4 and Kindergarten
Music Makers: 1st – 3rd grades
Joyful Singers: 4th – 6th grades
Mission Kids
Mission Kids is an opportunity for children to learn about missions in our community and our world. The children hear about various missionaries, learn about different cultures and tradition, discover the work of mission in our own city and church, and to listen for how God is calling them to daily serve others in love. We use FORM, the missions education material published for pre-school children by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Mission Kids meets on Sunday evenings from 5:15-6:00 pm following children’s choirs. The children are grouped as follows:
Ages 3, 4, 5, and Kindergarten
1st – 3rd grades
4th – 6th grades

Nursery Care
Our nursery staff provides a warm, safe, environment in which children may experience God’s love and care. Nursery care is provided during Sunday school and worship. Nursery care may also be provided for special events throughout the year. If you are wondering if childcare will be provided for a special event, please contact the church office for childcare scheduling information.
All FBC children’s ministry events and adult volunteers comply with our church’s Child and Youth Safety and Protection Policy. Volunteers are asked to complete a background check release form and include a copy of a valid driver’s license when submitting a release form.
Parent/Child Dedication
Parent/
Child dedication is a special tradition in the life of FBC Athens during which we celebrate the birth of a new child into our church family and promise to love and nurture this child in the Christian faith. Child dedication is a time when our congregation remembers the commitment it has made to every child and youth in our church—a commitment to provide opportunities for worship and spiritual growth, a commitment to celebrating each child as a precious and unique gift from God, and a commitment to pray for our children as they grow in faith.
Child dedication is done during worship at 11:00 am. If you or someone you know has questions about baby dedication, please feel free to contact our ministers.
